When you are buying a new home theater system or flat-screen TV, you will also have to think about which type of well-fitting mounts and stands you will need. Keeping your valuable electronics on the floor would be downright silly and dangerous. One wrong step and your turner and speakers would be crashed. You may also end up hurting your foot, or worse.
If you want a stand with wheels, then a TV cart might be right for you. These are generally better for smaller televisions, as a big screen or flat-screen televisions may run the risk of falling off while being wheeled around.
When setting up the main entertainment system in a home, it’s important to take a number of factors into account. For example, will the room serve more as a meeting place for the guys on game night, or a quiet spot for the family to watch movies together? Each of these choices will lead the homeowner down different paths. The same goes for the key components of the room: the couches, the stereo, the television, and the stands that house the electronic equipment. Each can have a dramatic effect on a room and should be considered as an integral part of the decision-making process.
A TV stand is a piece of furniture that you can place your television on top of. Sometimes stands have compartments, shelves, or drawers where you can store DVDs or other media equipment. Stands are a great option if you don’t have a lot of space. On the other hand, an entertainment center is a larger piece of furniture that your TV can fit inside and that includes an assortment of shelving and cabinet space for all of your media equipment and accessories.
If you own a big screen or flat-screen TV, then you do need to buy a TV stand or entertainment center that is built to hold the size and correct proportions of your television. A big-screen television is an expensive item and you don’t want to place it on or in a piece of furniture that can’t support it.
When selecting your stands and mounts visualize your entertainment or living room. Where do you want to install your equipment? How much floor space do you have to put an audio-video cart or speaker stand? Are there actually TV cabinets on the market that would fit into that tiny corner? May it be better to mount the unit onto the wall? These questions should be answered before you proceed with your accessory purchase.
Design occupies the top position on a buyers list when they hunt for a new TV stand. How it looks and what material its made of are the vital factors to how the stand is going to suit the room it’s going to be decorating for the foreseeable future.
